Talk About “Trauma Therapy with Acupuncture: The NADA protocol on Healing Talk Radio Hosted by Diana Hoffman

Standard

Diana Hoffman, founder of the Lightspring Counseling Center

Salem, UT – November 011 – Planetary Streams Talk Radio Network today announced that Diana Hoffman, Trauma Recovery Specialist, owner of Lightspring Counseling Center and host of “Healing Talk” radio show, will be joined by Nina Isaacson, Master of Oriental Medicine in a discussion of “Trauma therapy with Acupuncture: The NADA protocol”

The idea that poking someone with needles could relieve stress and trauma symptoms appears rather surprising to most of us, unless the fundamental principles behind this unusual PTSD treatment are understood.
Recent brain imaging and neuroscience research indicates that anxiety conditions and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder are created when fear-housing neurons in the deep brain link together and form neural networks. These networks become more and more extensive as traumatic experiences accumulate. As the networks grow, trauma responses are more easily triggered and are progressively more intense and painful.

These neural networks of fear and anxiety cannot be destroyed, but they can be neutralized if they are linked to neural networks of calming and soothing experiences, particularly calming sensations–as sensation is the primary “language” of the part of the deep brain that houses traumatic associations.

Acupuncture tends to produce feelings of deep relaxation and well-being–in part because many acupuncture points specifically trigger the release of endorphins. Thus acupuncture becomes a soothing experience and, when repeated can build a neural network that neutralizes traumatic associations.

Although this theory and insight about trauma treatment is very new, this approach to successfully trauma treatment with acupuncture has been going on for over thirty years. The most well-known and widely used technique for trauma is the technique advanced by the National Acupuncture detoxification Association (NADA).
The NADA protocol is a very efficient, inexpensive PTSD treatment that involves placing needles in five acupuncture points in the ears. The procure is quick, can be done in a chair, and the client can remain fully clothed.

The NADA protocol was first developed in the 1970s at Lincoln Hospital in New York City by Dr. Michael Smith. It was designed originally as a drug detoxification program. The protocol was based on the understanding that anxiety and PTSD treatment is fundamental to successful addiction treatment.

Research on Veterans using the NADA protocol demonstrates that the protocol reduces pain, decreases stress, improves sleep, reduces anxiety and irritability, and diminishes hypervigilance, flashbacks and nightmares.
Join us on Saturday November 12 as acupuncturist Nina Isaacson joins us to explore the research and applications of the NADA protocol for PTSD treatment on Healing Talk Radio. This program will stream at 9 am Mountain Time and will replay three times daily for a week on Planetary Streams Talk Radio, Web Campus World Wide Radio and Shoutcast.

Rare Swiss Apple Weapon Against Aging in New Cell Science Stem Cell Power Serum

Christine Heathman's new age management product

Age Management expert, Christine Heathman Shares Rare Apple Skin Repair Technology in her new Cell Science® Stem Cell Power Serum Products by GlyMed Plus Institute of Skin Science.

Rancho Mirage, CA — January 28, 2010 – Christine Heathman, LMT, ME, Author, Industry Innovator, Educator, and CEO and Founder of GlyMed Plus Institute of Skin Science™, today announced the launch of her Cell Science® Stem Cell Power Serum which gives skin the long-term ability to protect the longevity of cells, combat chronological aging, and gives cells the ability to act younger.

Christine Heathman, a well-recognized 30-year skin care industry, and age management expert says that her new Cell Science® Stem Cell Power Serum features PhytoCellTec™ Malus Domestica Fruit Cell Culture. Malus Domestica is a revolutionary phyto-technology that helps protect skin stem cells based on the science of botanical wound healing and uses the tissue culture of the rare Swiss Uttwiler Spatlauber apple to help the plant build fresh tissue post-injury.

According to Christine Heathman she says the concept is as simple as comparing apples to apples by putting a regular apple on the counter with the rare Uttwiler Spatlauber apple. A regular apple will decay but the rare apple will last months longer. Simply said, if you compare a plant cell with a human skin cell you will find that they are almost identical. Christine says that this means the ingredient in the rare apple has been proven to aid cell level repair in plants and in humans.

“The apple ingredient called Malus Domestica has been implemented into a topical ingredient which increases the efficacy of cells and is rich in plant substances, proteins and long-living cells which delay wrinkles, ageing and boost the longevity of skin cells,” said Christine Heathman, GlyMed Plus Institute of Skin Science™. “These stem cells and their science is a landmark breakthrough for age management experts who have shown by various experiments and studies that it has the power to delay and repair wrinkles on 100% of test subjects.”

The GlyMed Plus Institute of Skin Science founder agrees that nothing stops ageing but insists you can manage aging by giving your skin cells the advantage of preservation and massive research shows that the use of the Stem Cell botanical gives you younger acting cells and leads to healthier cells reproduction in your body.

Christine Heathman Age Management Expert

“Our new Cell Science® Stem Cell Power Serum uses the rare apple or PhytoCellTec™ Malus Domestica Fruit Cell Culture ingredient along with other botanical ingredients to give skin care users the advantage of the stem cell,” said Christine Heathman. “DNA plays a critical role our skins ability to rejuvenate and the stem cell research substantiates that the rare apple ingredient is a weapon to protect and repair injured cells. This ingredient targets the cells that help other cells grow. When you give the skin cells help the end result for the facial skin and neck is fantastic!”

WAHM Bluebird does nothing!

Standard

I stayed home all weekend, home, in the house, here! This weekend while listening to general conference — a bi annueal conference of our church broadcast on TV, radio and Internet. I was able to get a few things done — find the kids fall clothes, take a nap, bake some brownies, wear my jammies for 18 hours, things busy women never get to do — it was great!  I know there is a lot of craziness going on in the world but am a WAHM, a work at home mom, I don’t usually have time to just do what I want to do — I know people may think WAHM’s have it all . . . we do . . . but we don’t get to do it all.  Mindless things out of the focus of a strategic plan . . . no business involved . . . just listening to edifying counsel, and doing little chores while it rained.  How fun and unusual is that?  Any other bluebird sisters find time to do the same thing this weekend?

How I feel In Love…

Standard

Kim is not feeling well today so in true Bluebird Sisterhood I am writing a post for her blog 🙂

How I Feel in Love…

I have to say that I have never really been impressed by dogs. Growing up, the oldest of 10, we have a fair share of animals running in and out of the house. Most of them came to their doom when my dad (Seeing that all 10 of his children were not responsible and/or selfish) would find some place for them to go (we still wonder if he really took the baby hamsters to the Chinese Restaurant down the street). So with this mentality I never bonded with dogs and thought they were just big mess makers (Especially when you tried to step in a backyard of a dog owners house. I remember last year when our neighbors got a dog and my 4 year old stepped in the dog poop, walked into our house, and then stepped on my expensive oriental area rug smearing the mess everywhere). So dogs just put a bad taste in my mouth…

That is until I met Sam, he is an Irish wolfhound and I have to confess, I think I have fallen in love. He is a giant dog, just huge, and I met him last week. He just came right up to me and bowed at my feet… then he started to lick my toes. He is SO tall that my Emma, who is 2, can walk right under him. He has such a good personality and I can see now how people can fall in love with their animals. I don’t own him, just think about him and his long tongue and stingy hair. There are also these adorable Irish Wolfhound babies, that I think I am going to have to have. There is a runt with a way-ward eye, oh my, all my will was holding me back from scooping up that puppy and taking it home right away. I am such a sucker for adorable animals! We did eventually have to leave my new found loves, so I went home and looked everything I could up on the internet. I have already mapped areas out in my backyard to see if we could get one… and the odds are for us!

Now my entire aspect of dogs has changed. I think I have always secretly been a dog person waiting for the right dog to show me what I have been missing. So to all those anti-dog bloggers beware, if you every meet Sam or his nephews you are in trouble of falling in love.

Bluebird Sister wants Auto Wash Clothes!

Standard

They’ve invented everything else you can think of to help us keep our homes clean!  Great cleaning implements from Dyson to Swifter!  Yet in the laundry department they are still selling the same old Tide and Downey.  Sure there is bleach and no bleach and safe bleach and the Downey now has an array of scents, scents only dreamed of by exhausted laundry doers years ago, but does Lilac scent really help us?  Why can’t someone invent “auto wash” clothes.   Or better yet, kids dirty clothes tossed on the floor disintegrate after 4 or 5 days, just in time for the weekend when I have to do laundry.  I work all week in my own company kpower strategies why should I have to work harder at home?

Laundry makes my house messy.  Clothes, dirty clothes piled in baskets in the bedrooms and in the laundry room.  For Heaven’s sake my house was spotless last week after we took all our spring c leaning and regular wash to the local Splish Splash laundrymat!  Now we have a little dust – have a swifter for that – and loads of clothes.  I’m all for Green Day, I take 2 minute shorter showers, I even used melted snow to water my four dogs, come on, a little help here.  I don’t want to do laundry today!  My kids don’t want to it either – I make them though!  (Is it obvious that its not working!) Someone please come up with an idea.  Auto Wash clothes!  You spill and stain gone – automatically.  You sweat and sweat gone – automatically.  You skin your knee and hole gone – automatically.  My son plays Army man and crawls through the mud – head to toe mud gone – automatically.  Great idea, huh!  Now please someone get to work.    I think I am going to do a Planetary Vision Snack TV “how to” do laundry in two minutes or less next week.  Watch for it on Planetarystreams.com.

Valentine’s Day is for the Bluebirds!

Standard

I am one of those people who hears the joke about Valentine Day being called Single Awareness Day and think it is true not a joke.  I did not get married or have kids until I was 28 and so had a few of those fun Single Awareness Days myself.  Yesterday I watched my daughter go through one and she is 13, she watched everyone else get a Valentine or a rose while at school and came home down.  “Wow, it is started for her already,” I thought.  As for me I had just done my annual Healthy Wealthy Wow What Women Want Radio show (daily at 2 pm EST on the GRapevine TAlk Radio Network at www.planetarystreams.com) and so had made my usual comment about my husband and Valentine’s Day.

Each and every year for the 14 years we have been married when I bring up Valentine’s Day my husband asks me, “When is Valentine’s Day this year?”  Every year I say, “Honey, it is on the 14th the same as it is every year.” and he says “What month?”  So, for the 7 Valentine Days I have been doing the talk radio show for women I share this and every year many many women call in to profer advice on how they get their husbands to remember!

This year, the seventh year, something funny happened.  My husband remembered.  Usually after hearing my show he runs to the store and buys something expensive — incentivized by the guilty concious and all.  This year, I had roses, chocolate, a card (really and signed even) and a new watch.  Shocker was the tickets to the Opera!  Then of course when we got home (missed the Opera and reservations due to bad weather so had to eat all dressed up in the car at McDonald’s ((have not eaten their since road trip 4 years ago)) and saw the new Jumper Movie which is really good, is that the star wars guy?) I found a box on the door step.  In it was a Fat Bluebird Cookie jar that he had ordered online weeks and weeks ago!

Wow!  And I didn’t get him anything.  When is Valentine’s again?  March?

Bluebird Sisterhood launched on February 1 is Fitting

Standard

For 17 years I was a full-time working mom and for some reason in October I got a hare-brained idea to start my own business and work from home.  Partly stress and the long commute but for some reason after all these years it was the right thing to do!

In November I was excited, in December I was so busy with Christmas I forgot about it.  January 3rd I was home, alone, kids in school, 4 dogs at my feet.  The first couple of days I set up my desk, the next couple of days I got up, got dressed up like I was leaving the house and sat at my desk, the next couple of days I called and emailed everyone I hadn’t had time to email, the middle two weeks of January I watched movies in my jammies, the last week of January I alternately worked and cleaned the house.

I couldn’t decide if I was depressed or if the domestic motherhood thing was really all too much and over my head.  Just think of the years I spent laughing at mothers who actually stayed home and complained about “house” work when I managed a large department and came home to do “house” work.

Sufficiently humbled I was finding it hard to work, clean, let the dogs out every hour, make lunches, make dinner, run back to the school with forgotten items, keep kids uniforms clean, keep the floor clean, shovel the snow (from the largest snowfall in ten years, thanks for the timing) and help with homework.

Still with a new company to launch www.planetarystreams.com, an internet communications community which gives people their choice on what they listen to and what they watch on internet, I had to keep going.  Yet I had to find a way to survive in this “stay at home” women’s world.

I decided to organize my time.  I would get up work out, shower, make the kids’ lunches and breakfasts and then drive them to school on time.  I would volunteer once a week at the schools.  I would always have delicious, nutrious snacks prepared after school.

I tried this, am still trying this.  Somehow it never all fits in or works and then I get the eviel eye from neigbor hood women who seem to have made it to school with a shower.  Sure my kids hair wasn’t come and twice I forgot their lunches and more than once they were late.  It is hard to get their uniforms on them, and then wash them and put them on again.  Half of their uniforms were already swallowed by the washing machine black hole, along with their matching socks.

Do you know how snotty those PTA mom’s can be?  My goodness, they are rude, overly organized women, who seemed to be in my face since I started.  Criticizing this and that about my children, housekeeping, my dogs in their snow-filled so who cares yard!  Had they been doing this all along and I was at work so I did not hear it OR was it just me.

If you couldn’t trust other moms. laboring over the same tasks, who could you trust?  Why is it like that?  Why are we so competitive when we could really use each other’s help.  I know how hard it was to compete in a man’s world, I’ve just written a book on that, out to the editor on February 5th. But how in the world was I going to survive this snotty women’s world?

I called a friend who said, “There is nothing you can do about all those women. Forget about them, I have your back.”  I said, “Really?  Are you saying that no matter what they say about me you will stick up for me?  NO matter what you see me do or not do you have my back?  That is a pretty big committment!”

Even as I asked I wondered if that could ever happen between women.  We seem to irritate each other so well . . .

She said “Yes, no matter what I’ve got your back!”  And I said “Me as well!  No matter what I’ve got your back!”  And this from me to her is a hard promise as she is tiny, cute, organized with five kids and a gorgeous house with several businesses so women really do hate her!

So we agreed.  Still . . . couldn’t figure out how to do it all.  Have hosted a daily radio show at noon for years www.healthywealthywow.com and well talked to thousands of women who don’t know how to do it.  Still this women thing gnawed at me.

Finally one day, still in jammies but upset with the 16 pounds i had gained since I decided to stay home, I decided to take up watercolor instead of eating.  I opened the water color kit my husband gave me last last year for Christmas and started painting.  I set up in my bathroom, being prone to spills, and fiddled around.

As I sat there, out of the corner of my eye, I saw the glass bluebird a friend had given me when I was down.  A Bluebird of Happiness.  The sun (first sun in weeks) glinted off of it and I thought of that great friend who “had my back” dabbed my brush in blue and created a bluebird.

I then painted two and wrote underneath them.  “We’ve got each others backs!”

I felt silly but gave it to my friend, the cute one who had promised she had my back!  She loved it, and then because we are on the radio every day and have connection with thousands of women, we decided to create the Bluebird Sisterhood.  A group of us who have each others backs . . .  no matter what!  And we decided that in honor of my ‘work at home” depression we would share bluebirds with women like us . . . women who need a little lift, a little reminder that we are lovely just as we are.  For me that means, in working in jammies with my kids late too school.  The Bluebird Sisterhood means I get credit for deciding to stay at home and trying to work and make the world a better place while also trying to make my kids a nutrious meal!  I get credit for that and my sisters are going to stick up for me when the snotty PTA ladies get their dander up.

What do you think? Are you one of us?  We’ll get your back if you get ours . . . and we will send you a lovely bluebird watercolor from yours truly to remind you or your promise to your sisters . . . . in case you see my in my jammies in the car pool lane and are tempted to roll your eyes!
