Miracles are supposed to happen at Christmas but I never expected this one. Through Facebook, my husband received a message from a woman who asked if he was the Chad Stilson who had been adopted. My husband was adopted and had memories of a father, Dave Hardy. Well turns out that his real Dad had a daughter and son. Now my husband, whose mom died when he was 12, actually has family. (Since i have known him I have only met step family, except for his adopted father who has been around a bit the last few years and his mother’s family which are lovely. Especially Elva and Pappy who have been like lovely grandparents. His step family has been interesting at best!) He met his Dad yesterday and they shared a few tears and memories. He talked to his brother, who seems awesome and he got a message from his sister who seems awesome. I know they are half siblins, but sister is sister, brother is brother. Chad is so happy. Today is his birthday and he received a letter from a former step sister we have not heard from in 8 years complaining about stuff from their youth! Funny when you think you don’t have any family what you tolerate! He then received a short note from his sister, half sister, new sister and he was like. Finally I have a real family! Sure sure we need to meet them all and they need to meet us. Who knows if we will all get along, but either way, at least Chad has some family living and breathing he is related too. There is something to be said for that — no direct family for the last 26 years and now a father a sister and a brother! It would be pretty hard to top that Christmas miracle!
